Don’t Let What You Feel Make You Forget What You Know

What's up, my Greats!
I need to admit something.
Sometimes I know better...
And still feel differently.
I know God has brought me through things before.
I know one bad day doesn't erase months of progress.
I know a setback doesn't automatically mean I'm headed in the wrong direction.
I know all of that.
But catch me on the wrong day?
My emotions can start telling a completely different story.
Maybe you know exactly what I'm talking about.
In Matthew 17, Jesus tells His disciples something devastating.
He's going to be betrayed.
He's going to be killed.
But He doesn't stop there.
“The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life.”
— Matthew 17:22–23
They heard the whole prophecy.
Death and resurrection.
But what grabbed them?
The death.
They became overwhelmed by the painful part and practically missed the promise on the other side.
Man...
How often do we do the same thing?
Your Feelings Are Real. They're Just Not Always Right.
I'm still working on this myself.
Something doesn't go according to plan, and my mind wants to run ten miles ahead.
What if this doesn't work?
What if I made the wrong decision?
What if things get worse?
And before anything has actually happened, I'm emotionally living inside a future I invented.
That's dangerous.
Especially when you're building something.
One bad sales week becomes, “My business isn't working.”
One failed launch becomes, “Maybe I'm not cut out for this.”
One rejection becomes, “Nobody wants what I have.”
Hold up.
That's not truth. That's emotion talking.
Don't Make Permanent Decisions From Temporary Feelings
This is where you've got to become dangerous with your mindset.
Feel disappointed.
Feel frustrated.
Feel scared.
I'm not telling you to become a robot.
But don't hand your emotions the keys to your life.
I've had moments where I needed to remind myself:
Manny, you don't have all the answers. You don't know how this ends.
And sometimes that's exactly the point.
Faith isn't knowing every detail.
Sometimes faith is refusing to write the ending while you're still standing in the middle of the story.
Here's Your Challenge
Think about something that's bothering you right now.
Business.
Money.
Your future.
A relationship.
Your next move.
Now grab a piece of paper.
On one side, write:
WHAT I FEEL.
On the other:
WHAT I KNOW.
Separate the two.
You might be surprised how much anxiety you've been treating like evidence.
Here's the Bottom Line
You're going to have emotional days.
So am I.
We're works in progress.
But growth means learning that every thought doesn't deserve agreement and every feeling doesn't deserve authority.
The disciples heard death...
and almost missed resurrection.
Don't make the same mistake.
Whatever you're facing right now, don't become so consumed with the painful part of the story that you forget:
God may not be finished writing it yet.
Control what you can.
Trust Him with what you can't.
And don't let what you feel today make you forget what you already know.
Now go make it happen!

FROM MANNY D.
Some days, your emotions are going to scream louder than your faith. Mine do too. But loud doesn’t mean true. Give yourself permission to feel what you feel. Just don’t build your future around it. You’re still in the middle of the story. Don’t write the ending before God does.
Until next time,
Manny D. Rosa
