Somebody Needs the Story You’re Trying to Forget

What's up, my Greats!
Let me tell you something.
That thing you went through?
The failure.
The heartbreak.
The financial struggle.
The season when everything fell apart.
You might want to forget it.
But somebody else might need to hear it.
Because what you call your past might actually be somebody else's roadmap.
Matthew 14 tells us that after Jesus and the disciples crossed the water, they arrived at Gennesaret. The people recognized Jesus, spread the word, and started bringing others who needed healing.
"And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country."
— Matthew 14:35
Catch that.
They recognized Him.
Then they told somebody.
That's testimony.
Stop Hiding the Messy Parts
We love telling people about the victory.
Nobody wants to talk about the valley.
But the valley is usually where the power is.
You built the business?
Great.
Tell me about when you almost quit.
You became confident?
Great.
Tell me about when you couldn't look yourself in the mirror.
You found your purpose?
Great.
Tell me about when you were completely lost.
That's the stuff people connect with.
Perfection impresses people.
Testimony impacts people.
Your Pain Can Become Somebody's Permission
Think about this.
Somebody is currently standing where you once stood.
They're scared.
They're confused.
They're wondering if they're going to make it.
Then they hear your story.
Suddenly something changes.
"If they made it through that... maybe I can too."
That's why your story matters.
Your survival becomes evidence.
Your scars become credibility.
Your struggle becomes permission for somebody else to believe again.
Stop Being Ashamed of the Detour
Sometimes life takes you somewhere you never planned to go.
A business fails.
A relationship ends.
You lose the job.
Your plan collapses.
And you're thinking, "How did I end up here?"
But sometimes the storm redirects you.
It pushes you into rooms you never would've entered.
Introduces you to people you never would've met.
Forces you to develop strength you never would've built.
You wouldn't have chosen the storm.
But years later, you realize the storm changed your direction.
Your Story Isn't Just About You
This is where entrepreneurs and leaders need to pay attention.
Your audience doesn't only need your expertise.
They need your humanity.
Tell them what you learned.
Tell them what didn't work.
Tell them where you failed.
Tell them how you got back up.
You don't have to expose every private detail of your life.
But don't sanitize your story so much that nobody can see themselves in it.
Here's the Bottom Line
You've survived things somebody else is currently praying to survive.
You've learned lessons somebody else desperately needs.
You've walked roads somebody else is terrified to walk.
So stop treating your testimony like old baggage.
Use it.
Your greatest contribution might not come from teaching people what you know.
It might come from showing them what you've lived.
Your pain wasn't pointless.
Your scars aren't shameful.
And your story isn't finished.
Somebody needs proof that it's possible to come out on the other side.
You might be that proof.
Tell your story.
Now go make it happen!
